Shelter & Housing

Building Foundations for Dignity

A home is more than just four walls and a roof; it is a sanctuary where families find safety, children find a place to study, and individuals find the dignity they deserve. Yet, for many families living in extreme poverty, “home” is a fragile structure made of mud, plastic sheets, or scrap metal. These makeshift shelters offer little protection against the scorching heat of summer, the freezing winters, or the torrential monsoon rains.

At Haidury Education & Welfare Trust, our Shelter & Housing programme provides life-changing grants to help the most vulnerable families move into safe, permanent, and weather-resistant homes. We prioritize widows, orphans, and the elderly, ensuring that those with the least protection are given a solid foundation upon which they can rebuild their lives.

“Whoever relieves a believer of some worldly distress, Allah will relieve him of some of the distress of the Day of Resurrection.”

Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2699

Our Grant-Making Process Includes

New Home Construction: Funding towards the building of simple, durable brick-and-mortar houses for families who are currently living in high-risk or dilapidated structures.

Home Repair & Weatherproofing: Providing grants to fix collapsing roofs, reinforce weak walls, and install proper flooring to prevent dampness and disease.

Widow & Orphan Housing: Prioritizing the construction of homes for female-led households to ensure they have a secure environment free from exploitation.

Essential Utility Integration: Ensuring that housing projects include basic necessities such as ventilation, secure doors, and windows for safety and health.

Structural Reinforcement: Providing grants to upgrade existing mud houses with burnt bricks and cement to ensure they withstand local environmental challenges.

Why These Grants Matter

A dry, ventilated home prevents respiratory illnesses and waterborne diseases common in damp, makeshift shelters.

Enhances Child Safety

Children who grow up in secure homes are better protected and have a stable environment to focus on their education.

Restores Social Dignity

Moving from a shack to a permanent home restores a family’s standing in the community and provides them with psychological peace.

Sadaqah Jariyah

Providing a home is a powerful form of ongoing charity; as long as that family is sheltered, prayed, and lived within those walls, you receive the reward.
